Leopard Booties

Hi babes! I hope you all enjoyed last week’s Amazon Gift Guide for Her Post… I have snatched a bunch of those items already for my gals! So I interrupt your program (of gift guides/buying gifts) to bring you breaking news 😉 … These leopard booties are TO DIE FOR! If you follow me on instagram, you know I posted a few times on my stories asking you guys if I should buy these leopard booties or not. I feel like people either love em or hate em and I honestly couldn’t decide myself for the longest time. Finally I snatched these up on a Black Friday deal for $15…. yes you heard right, $15!!!! Unfortunately, as you can imagine, they’re gone! However, I got ya covered girl, I’m linking all similar booties below 🙂

At first I was kinda intimidated by these because I never wear loud shoes in terms of pattern. I usually stick to my staple black/brown boots in the winter. I usually just add pattern or a pop in my shirt choice. But, I loved the way these can elevate a simple look and make it more fun and trendy. I paired my leopard booties with army green skinny jeans, a lace/silk tank, and then a black sweater/black leather jacket. I love how the army green popped against the leopard; I always think those two look so good together.

I also have paired these beauties with my normal dark skinny jeans and a white tee and jacket and I loved it! Again, the leopard booties spiced up a very casual/basic outfit. I did like how the booties paired with my black skinny jeans as well, but I’ve seen on pinterest a handful of other girls pairing them with ripped/distressed black skinnies so I have that on my list to try as well!

I hope you guys enjoy how I styled these adorable leopard booties and it gives you some inspiration! Don’t be afraid to try this out because you feel like you can’t pull them off, because lemme tell ya, if I can do it, you can do it! Let me know if you already have a pair or plan to add some to your collection 🙂

The Best Sales for Black Friday 2017

Brittany Trautman Best Sales Black Friday 2017

I’m back… back again 😉 Even though I posted on Tuesday, I still wanted to get my normal Thursday post up just in time for all of the Black Friday sales! Did anyone else notice that this year a lot of brands started having pre-black Friday sales? This week a bunch of brands had great sales and I loved every second of it 🙂 I rounded up the best (and my fav) online sales to share with y’all! I myself am a shop-a-holic, but when it comes to Black Friday, I somehow always convince myself I need everything because it’s on sale! Does anyone else do that?? In years past, I have waited in long lines in the freezing cold but this past year, I have been doing most of my shopping online so I don’t even mess with that anymore and it’s AWESOME! I mean, who doesn’t want to skip the lines, snuggle up on the couch, watch a Christmas movie, and do some online shopping?!

Old Navy’s Black FriYAY 50% off sale (ends 11/24)

1. High-Rise Rockstar Skinny Jeans– I looooove these jeans because they’re super stretchy and the high-rise fit sucks everything in 😉 With the discount, they’re only $17.49!

2.Blush Vest– I’m a sucker for vests and I love pairing them with absolutely anything in the colder months. This one in blush is super cute and on trend right now. It also comes in a camo print. This vest is only $15 (wooohoooo!)

3.Velvet Ruffle Cami– This cami comes in 3 colors and the velvet is another hot trend right now. This would look perfect paired with a cardigan or even a leather jacket. It’s definitely a closet staple that can be worn a million ways. It’s only $12.50!

Express 50% off Everything Sale + Free Shipping (ends 11/25)

4. Ribbon Tie Cold Shoulder Sweater– You guys know I love bows/ dainty details and I haven’t seen any sweaters like this anywhere else! I love the mix of the bows on the shoulders with the cold shoulder detail. This sweater is $24.95

5. Plaid Wrap Tie Mini Skirt– I am intrigued by the new plaid trend that we’ve been seeing this year and this skirt makes me want to try it! I love the asymmetrical front and the wrap detail. I think this would be adorable for Christmas paired with a black sweater and OTK boots. This skirt is $24.95

6. Chenille Leggings– I definitely NEED these! Chenille has become popular this year and I’m loving it just as much as everyone else 🙂 It’s the softest, coziest material known to man kind, lol. So when I heard people raving about these chenille leggings, I knew I had to add them to my wishlist. They’re $29.95 which may seem a bit pricey for leggings, but these are LIQUID GOLD PEOPLE!

Loft Black Fri-Yay Collection (ends 11/23) // Use code ‘GIFTITUP’ for 40% off

7. Tie Cuff Sweater– Another item with bows, what can I say, I’m a girly girl, lol. I love the mix of the classic black and white and how the bows and the cuffs add flare to a basic sweater. This sweater is $29.70

8. Velvet Slip On Sneakers– The color of these is stunning! It’s called murky blue and looks like a blue/grey mix. There is a pink version of these slip on sneakers too! Again, velvet is trendy and I love slip on sneakers so these would be perfect to throw on and run out the door and would look great with leggings or jeans. They are $32.70!

9. Satin Sneakers– Again, this color is stunning! It’s a rose/gray color and the material is satin so naturally they look like a more chic/ dressed up version of a normal tennis shoe. They also come in a grey color as well. These are $29.70!

Nordstrom currently has a sale going on with 20%-55% off discounts (Ends 11/24)

10. Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick– These are a steal! Comparable in price to a lot of drug store lipsticks honestly. I’ve heard good things about these, so this price is great to try them at! I’ve got my eye on the shade ‘Amulet’ and they’re only $9!! FYI, they also have a lipstick/lip liner combo on sale for $15 too! (P.S. Nordstrom has a bunch of beauty goodies for a steal!)

11. Philosophy Shower Gel– I love the Philosophy cleanser as well as the shower gels. These smell AHHHMAZING! The holiday and classic scents are all included.. These would make perfect holiday gifts or even an easy ‘treat yo self’ gift 😉 The shower gel is on sale for $12

12. BP Studded Faux Leather Crossbody– This is a staple for any girl. It’s great quality at a great price, definitely something you can get a lot of use out of it. This crossbody is only $18.42!

These are just a few of my favorite items I have found, but there are sooo many other goodies I have on my wishlist. Happy Thanksgiving and shopping loves!!

Hi loves! A post on a Tuesday… say whaaaa? But because of Thanksgiving on Thursday, I wanted to chat with you guys a few days earlier 🙂 We actually had my side of the family’s Thanksgiving this past weekend but we will be celebrating with Darin’s side on actual Thanksgiving! I can’t wait to eat more than my weight in mashed potatoes and stuffing, lol. With that being said I knew as soon as I put on this top, I HAD to share it because it’s absolutely perfect for Thanksgiving!!

Mustard has grown on me lately and I’m especially loving it for fall. Not only is the color of this top adorable, but the ruffle details are TO DIE FOR! I’m all about feminine and dainty pieces 🙂 It’s definitely a more “dressy” alternative to the traditional sweater on Thanksgiving, but I’m totally ok with it because it isn’t tight and has a looser fit so it hides the food baby perfectly 😉 Which is what we all want, right?! It fits true to size; I’m wearing a size small for reference.

You can get this top from Boutique Rye just in time for Thanksgiving! Boutique Rye has soooo many cute and trendy pieces – from sweaters to accessories and everything in between! Not to mention, in their Facebook group, there are amazing live sales that make it feel like a fun girls night in shopping with your closest girlfriends! (Because who doesn’t love being able to shop from your couch with your pajamas on?!) Oh and even Wine Chat Monday’s where you can grab a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, or anything, sit down and tune in to chat with other gals! Don’t forget to check out Boutique Rye on Instagram too 🙂

I paired the mustard top with my current favorite denim, my staple brown booties, and even topped it off with a brown leather jacket. I think the brown of the booties and jacket compliment the yellow so well! My booties and jacket are both old, but I’m linking similar ones here and here.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family and friends! Have an extra serving of mashed potatoes and gravy for me 😉

OTK Boots: The Fall/Winter Trend You HAVE to Try

Brittany Trautman OTK Boots Brittany Trautman OTK Boots Brittany Trautman OTK Boots

Happy Friday Eve my friends! Can you believe next week is Halloween?! Where did all the time go?! I feel like it shouldn’t be Halloween yet because it just recently started getting cooler here in KC. But with Halloween fast approaching, that means all the good movies on AMC and Freeform (aka ABC Family) have started playing so I’m ok with it 🙂

I put up a poll on my instagram (go check it out if you haven’t alreaady  @brittanyd_trautman) 🙂 And I asked what you guys wanted to see more… how to style OTK boots or my fav graphic tees. How to style OTK boots won with about 70% of the votes so here you are my loves! (And don’t worry if you voted for graphic tees… that’ll be coming soon. I got you girl!)

So last year I really saw the OTK (over the knee) boots trend take off. I wasn’t sure if the trend was going to stay and to be honest, they kinda intimidated me so I just stuck to my tried and true booties last year. But when I saw they were here to stay and on trend again this year, I decided that I would try them for myself. Like I said, I was intimidated by OTK boots… yes, intimidated by a pair of boots, lol 🙂 . I think it was a combination of the higher price point of most of the boots I found, the whole ‘over the knee’ thing was daunting to me, and mainly because they make more of a statement than booties do. I feel like there’s some people who think OTK boots are like, “promiscuous” (I don’t know the right word, lol), in a way. Which I felt too! BUT then I realized, it’s all about how you style them! Not to mention, another thing holding me back from going for it was my preconceived notion that short people couldn’t wear them. Which yes, I tried on a few that were major no’s for my stubby legs, but you just have to find the right length/fit for  your legs!

Now that I’m obsessed with OTK boots, I want them in every color! I found my boots at Nordstrom Rack for a steal (under $55 woohoo!), so I’m definitely wanting to add some black ones to my collection! I decided to try out flat OTK boots to start with. I recommend starting with a flat boot if you’re not sure about the trend and then moving to a heel or a bold color. Again, I was intimidated even more by the OTK boots with any sort of heel because in my mind, that was too over the top… silly me! Now I’ve totally got my eye on a few pairs that have the perfect 2/3 inch chunky/block heel that are ADORABLE! There are definitely some higher-end OTK boots that I hear other fashion bloggers rave about that I have on my wishlist. But for now, these boots are my new staple!

The first outfit I paired the boots with was my favorite… because it was the easiest 😉 . I grabbed my favorite pair of black leggings, a basic white cold shoulder top that covered my butt (exact style here // similar top here), and paired it with a blanket scarf (my scarf is old, but this one is almost identical and under $10!). And voila! It’s as easy as that! You can pair these boots with your favorite leggings, a simple top and a scarf and run out the door. This outfit is perfect for a lunch date, errands, or even the pumpkin patch! The boots definitely make the outfit look more put together and like you tried a little harder than you actually did 🙂

The second outfit was suuuper easy too! I just paired the boots with a dress from my closet that hit me right above the knee. This one here is from Francesca’s last year and I couldn’t find it online, but this dress is a similar shape and style. I found it looked awkward on me to pair the boots with a dress that covered the top of the boots and made me look even shorter, but do what looks best on you! With the slit of my knees peeking through, I found it made my legs look longer and made the look a little more flirty without showing too much skin. This look would be great for an event, holiday party, church, or anywhere you want to dress up to. And, how freaking beautiful are these earrings! I love this hunter/forest green for the fall and winter!

The third outfit is definitely going to be my go to for our next date night… hint hint Darin 😉 I paired the boots with my current favorite jeans, a simple black blouse, and a black leather jacket. This top is cute on it’s own because it has bell sleeves and ruffles which gives it a more feminine vibe and spices up a basic black blouse. (I bought this one at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and they don’t carry it anymore. But here is an almost identical one!) To add a little edge and warmth, I added a black faux leather jacket (mine is really old, but here’s a similar & inexpensive one!). Usually I don’t tend to mix browns and blacks, but these boots are more of a mix between brown and gray so the two colors contrasted with each other perfectly. I love this look because it’s simple yet chic and once again, is super easy to put together with items you probably already have in your closet!

These are the other OTK boots I have on my wishlist: Heartbeat Over The Knee Boot // Krush Over The Knee Boot //  Target Over The Knee Boot

Let me know below if you’ve tried OTK boots and what your favorite ways to wear them are! If not, let me know if you’re going to try them 🙂

Why Blog?

Why I Blog

Well, to be honest, I am starting this blog because I have finally built up the courage and confidence to do so. There was always some excuse holding me back from publishing a blog or even telling others I wanted to create a blog- I don’t have enough time, no one would even read it, the blogging niche is too saturated, I’m not talented/ knowledgeable enough… the list goes on and on. Truth be told, I had a blog at one point but never made it public. Why? Because I kept coming up with “what if’s” instead of just going for it. So now I’m going for it… thus, here we are 🙂

Beauty is without a doubt my first love. I’ve always loved all things makeup since I can remember. I enjoy testing out new products, sharing my tips and tricks, and to be honest, putting my make up on is usually the highlight of my day (no pun intended 😉 ) I have had people ask me how I do my makeup- brows, contour, eye shadow, etc. and what products I use for some time now and I want to have a platform to share that! I am not claiming to know absolutely everything about make up nor be a professional make up artist for that matter. I’m just trying to share about what makeup I love and why with others! Most recently, I’ve been really into skincare for many different reasons as well (that’s a whole other post in itself 🙂 ) because let me tell you, I’m not trying to get wrinkles any sooner then I have to, lol!

All things beauty have always inspired me and that has sparked interest in my own personal style. As a 20-something woman, trying to shop on a budget while still looking cute and trendy is sometimes easier said than done. Over the years, I’ve learned what looks best on my body type, what trends will come and go, what I totally regret buying, and much more. I’d like to share my fashion finds and personal style with others.

When it comes to lifestyle, I want to share my little pieces of happiness from my life with you all :). Whether that’s décor finds to easy recipes (because we all know if it’s not easy to cook, I’m not doing it lol) or travel diaries to DIY projects. I want to share part of my life with those who can relate or enjoy reading. Ultimately, my goal is to write about what I’m passionate about in hopes that someone out there on the world-wide web relates or feels inspired!

Besides beauty, personal style, and lifestyle, I just want to write about whatever I’m feeling at the moment. I’ve been wanting to publish a blog for a few years now and never had the courage (at one point I had one and deleted it 🙁 ). I figured that no one would care about what I had to share or people would make fun of me; the list goes on and on. But honestly, WHO CARES?! I am starting this blog for me, myself, and I. Even if my sister and Darin are the only ones who read it, then that’s ok! This blog will be an amazing platform to share my passions and ultimately look back on years from now. So with that, please feel free to comment and subscribe to my newsletter because I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by!

Growing Into My Personal Style

Personal Style

As I have transitioned out of college girl wardrobe into adult mode wardrobe, I’ve found most of my wardrobe after graduating wasn’t necessarily wearable anymore. I bet I’m not the only one 🙂 I know we’ve all owned something that at one point we thought was the coolest/ most flattering piece of clothing and now we find ourselves saying, “WHAT WAS I THINKING?” I myself had more miniskirts, high heels, and random pieces of clothing that honestly made me question my own sanity, lol. Like I said, we’ve all been there (be honest  😉 ) and I wasn’t quite sure at first how to turn my overly tight/ teenie-bopper wardrobe into a wardrobe that could work for a young professional while still trendy. I first got rid of/ donated all pieces that didn’t fit or I completely loathed; Whether that was a dress that was way too tight or some old daisy duke shorts 🙂 After purging my closet of the unwantables/ embarrassing clothes, I then thought about what I wanted to keep and why. I wanted to keep the clothes that still fit me, yet were age appropriate or work appropriate. From there, I thought about what I wanted to look for when shopping or what I really needed.

My priority whenever I shop is to keep the price in mind. As a 24 year old/newlywed, buying a $100 dress or a pair of shoes that wouldn’t get much versatility isn’t always the best choice. I wouldn’t say I only buy things under a certain dollar amount, but searching for sales and finding clothes I can get the most use out of is a must. I try to stay realistic and we all know Darin keeps me level headed with that too, lol. On top of keeping an open mind while budgeting, I try to look for items that would work for both my personal style and for work. Thankfully, when I’m not travelling to a client site, my dress code while in the office is jeans casual- jeans and a nice shirt, a casual yet appropriate dress, etc. I knew I wanted to find shirts that didn’t show too much skin but were still fun enough that I could wear them to happy hour or date night. A bonus is when I can find a top that is even dressy enough to wear with slacks but can also be dressed down with my staple jeans. On top of all of that, I wanted to keep most of my wardrobe in the neutral color scheme. Now, by no means do I limit myself to buying only white, black, navy, army green, etc. But I wouldn’t buy anything that had an overly loud pattern or a top that had to be worn with certain pants because it had so much going on. Trust me, if I find something that I absolutely love, but it has a colorful print or a vibrant tone, I will definitely purchase it! But I try to keep in mind that I want to look for something that can work with multiple items. Throughout all of that, I ultimately wanted to convey my own personal style throughout my wardrobe – whether it was an athleisure wear outfit for a lazy Sunday or an outfit for work meetings. I wanted to incorporate pieces that showed I have a feminine and bubbly style; From ruffles and blush tones to accents of floral and flattering shapes.

In today’s world, it can be hard to get caught up in the moment’s trends and brand names. Don’t get me wrong, some trends are amazing and I hope they stay forever and if you can afford every designer pair of shoes, you go girl! But for myself, I have to stay grounded. Sometimes that means trying a trend at an inexpensive price just in case it doesn’t work out or finding a dupe for a designer bag. At the end of the day, I have to remember that as long as I feel good in what I’m wearing, then that’s a win. What may work for someone else, may not work for me, and vice versa. Fashion and personal style is all about expressing yourself and doing what works for you; what works for your budget, your career, your body shape, etc. To all of you non-believers out there that think you can’t achieve your personal style on a budget or that you can’t pull off the newest trend, YOU CAN! You do you and own it!
